NOT APPLICABLE FOR RESOUCE GUARDERS WHO MUST NOT HAVE ANY TOYS UNTIL WE ALL AGREE TO INTRODUCE THEM
It is never too early to introduce toys, but slowly does it, and don’t worry if they ignore them for a few days or weeks
Remember some of our rescue dogs will not have had toys before so they just won’t know what to do with them
Our experience so far of what our dogs have loved
Soft Toys – They will love soft toys but don’t expect them to last long! They have been emptied of their stuffing after a few days, then carried around like damp rags. But all soft toys have been much loved
Kongs – filled with dog friendly peanut butter (no xylitol) , squirty cheese, pate or other treats and stuck in the freezer are a great way to spend an hour.
Tug toys – are also brilliant – so anything ropey! These dogs have all enjoyed a good rope.
Wooden sticks (real ones off trees) are an absolute no no as they can cause quite a lot of damage to their throats). There are some great vet-approved faux sticks that are tasty, safe and durable available online and in pet stores.
Benebone – are great and last for months! You can also dunk them in some pure coconut oil for a natural treat which is great for their coats and they love the flavour.
Tennis balls, ball on a rope, footballs – who doesn’t love a ball
Please adhere to size guidelines when buying toys for your dog, if the toy is too small it can present a choking hazard
