WE HAVE AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY… BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP
This could transform the future of rescue for countless Goldies.
We’ve been offered the use of a half-acre site in the Warwickshire countryside that could become a dedicated rehabilitation, assessment, training and sanctuary space for the dogs who need us most.
With more and more of the breed clubs having to stop their rehoming programmes, we are being asked to take more dogs. We are physically can’t due to lack of foster homes / backlog on training or boarding spaces / speed of rehoming required
As you know we use residential training programmes for some of our more challenging dogs, but at an average £2,000 per dog, they limit how many we can help. This new space would allow us to support more dogs, more effectively, and at lower cost – reserving the residential training for those who need it most and not as an emergency boarding space as we occasionally have to.
This area would provide:
A safe decompression area for dogs arriving in crisis.
Longer behavioural assessments before placement.
More affordable rehabilitation and training programmes.
A welcoming space where adopters can get to know dogs before committing.
Emergency accommodation for dogs needing immediate refuge.
Most importantly:
A place for dogs to return to immediately when things don’t work out.
Every rescue fears the call that a placement has broken down. A dedicated, low-stress space means no dog is left in limbo while we search for solutions.
And for the rare, heartbreaking cases where traditional rehoming may never be possible, this land could offer something priceless – a sanctuary.
Despite handling some extremely complex behavioural cases, we have never euthanised a dog for behavioural reasons. At times, we came dangerously close because there were no safe alternatives.
This sanctuary could help us keep saying: “Not today. Not this dog.”
The location is ideal, shared with an established training facility and supported by an on-site behaviourist, creating the perfect environment for rehabilitation and ongoing care.
Before we can welcome our first dog (and he’s already booked in), there is still a lot to do:
Clear heavily overgrown land.
Repair and reinforce fencing.
Lay hard standings.
Install thermal kennels for year-round use. One has already been pledged, but we need at least two.
Add 20 metres of solid screening fencing for reactive dogs using the training facility
Local volunteers are already donating their time, energy and skills to bring this vision to life.
Now we need the funds – ideally we need to raise £10k to make this happen
Every donation helps create a facility that will save lives, support adopters, reduce training costs, provide emergency refuge and offer sanctuary when nowhere else exists.
This isn’t just a piece of land.
It’s a second chance.
A safety net.
A future.
